The government has convened a meeting of members of Parliament belonging to 33 worst Naxal-affected districts on April 30 to apprise them about its strategy to deal with the Maoists and seek their cooperation in the endevour.
The government on Monday said there was no immediate need to deploy army in Maoist-hit regions and it could take nearly seven years to get rid of the menace.
Chief ministers of Naxal-affected states will meet in New Delhi on June 5 to formulate strategy on how to check unabated violence by Maoists and tackle the menace.

In a fresh strategy to combat the Naxal menace, the government on Wednesday asked Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal to create a unified command for anti-Maoist operations and to appoint a retired major general of the army as its member.
